Track & Field News
Week of 4/8/19
COACHES CORNER
I want to take this time to thank all of the parents and track athletes who volunteered their time to work the concessions at the Middle School Meet. The proceeds from the concessions helps to fund the track and field programs and eliminates the fundraising process.
The South Austin Relays produced many great times, distances and heights going into the district meet. The varsity team placed second in the meet with a reduced number of varsity athletes competing. This indicates the great depth that we currently have in our program. The Junior Varsity team won the JV division.
At the Texas Relays two school records were broken along with the 4 x 200 Relay and Sprint Medley Relay placing 4th. The 4 x 800 Relay was crowned meet champions and breaking the school record in the event. Kobe Yepez placed 3rd in the 1600 M Run and breaking the school record in that particular event.
In the 13-6A District Meet the Dragon's were crowned meet champions scoring 222 points to second place Vandegrift's 137 points. The Junior Varsity and Freshmen teams also won their divisions.
Our next competition is the Area Track Meet at Bryan High School on Wednesday April 17th.
Thanks to Mr. York and Henry Huey for their photos and videos.
