Choir Success!!

It’s been quite the busy and record setting time for the Dragon choral department over the last 5 days.

American Classic Chamber and Madrigal Festival
On Saturday, The Round Rock Dragon Chorale competed at the annual American Classic Chamber and Madrigal Festival in San Antonio. This contest is considered among many to be one of the most elite choral contests with some of the best choirs in the state competing over a day and a half. The Dragon Chorale received a superior rating (1s from all three judges) and also received a Performance of Distinction Award, which is a step above. The list of choirs who received this include 10 TMEA invited choirs from the past 8 years, and 5 previous winners of this prestigious contest.
UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation
Over the last two days, Round Rock HS took 6 choirs to UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation at Georgetown HS. This is approximately 275 students who sang and represented RRHS at the highest level. All six choirs received superior ratings on stage and in sight reading receiving a coveted Sweepstakes award. The judges constantly talked about their superior musicianship and professionalism in all the things they did.

The Dragon choir department has never swept all the choirs they have taken in one contest year nor have they taken this many choirs before. So, please be sure to congratulate these Dragons on their accomplishments.
